NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet meeting approved the continuation of the Ujjwala Yojana scheme, which provides a subsidy on cooking gas at the rate of Rs 300 to the needy sections.
The scheme will benefit more than 10.27 crore people who will get 12 cylinders of 14.2 kg per year at subsidized rates. The total expenditure for 2024-25 is expected to be Rs.12,000 crore.
Rs 10,037 crore has been earmarked for 10 years for Unnati (North East Transformative Industrialization Scheme) aimed at industrial development and employment opportunities in North Eastern states. The scheme is implemented by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
