'Major goal lies ahead, goodbye to IAS'; Divya Mittal with big announcement ahead of UP assembly polls

LUCKNOW: Divya Mittal, a former IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre who took voluntary retirement from the civil service, announced her entry into politics. Hinting at her entry into politics in Uttar Pradesh, Divya dismissed speculations about joining any specific party. This announcement comes just months before the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Divya, a 2013-batch IAS officer, retired in September after 13 years of service. She has served as the District Magistrate of Mirzapur and Deoria. Declaring that she would be the voice of the people, Divya stated that her political journey would focus on responsibility, justice, and the issues faced by ordinary citizens.

“My resignation from the IAS a few days ago may have raised many questions in your minds. I refrained from responding until now due to a heavy workload and the need to summon the courage to address the matter. However, I am here today to answer all those questions.

For many of your questions, my answer is politics. People often ask what I aspire to be, given that I have already achieved so much. I want to be a voice—a voice for those who cannot make themselves heard, and for those whose voices go unheard even when they do speak up," said Divya Mittal.
