MUMBAI: The license of the ice cream company was suspended after a human finger was found in it. The license was suspended after a team from the Western Region Office of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) inspected the ice cream company.
However, the report from the forensic lab has not yet received. FSSAI has collected samples from the company for further investigation. Officials informed that further action will be taken after receiving the forensic report.
Twenty-seven-year-old Orlem Brendan Serrao, a doctor in Mumbai and a native of Malad, got the finger from the corn ice cream made by a company called Yumno ordered through a grocery app.
The doctor said that he felt something unusual in his mouth and when he examined it, realized that it was a finger. However, the youth said that he did not feel the difference in taste. By the time he found the part of the finger, he had eaten half of the ice cream. The incident was immediately reported to the police and the part of the finger and the remaining ice cream were handed over as evidence. The police had confirmed that the part of the finger was found in the ice cream. It is also suspected that it would be that of a worker, who may have severed his finger, while engaged in making ice-cream.
