Body of missing fisherman found near Thumba

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The body of the fisherman, who went missing after his boat capsized in Thumba, has been found. The body was found Saturday morning from near Rajiv Gandhi Nagar.


Sebastian (47) of Thumba, went missing last Wednesday. The body was found when the coastal police was engaged in the search operations. His boat capsized in the strong waves. Other four people who were in the boat had swum to safety.

Warning of high waves
The National Center for Oceanography and Oceanography (INCOIS) has informed that there is a possibility of 1.7 to 2.1 meters high wave and storm surge along the Tuticorin coast of Tamil Nadu on 10-08-2024 till 05.30 pm. Fishermen and coastal residents in these areas should exercise special caution.

1 As the rough seas are likely to intensify, people should stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.

2. Keep fishing vessels safely moored in the harbour. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the risk of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.

3. Avoid trips to the beach and activities at sea completely.
