KOZHIKODE: The relatives of a patient who came to Kadalundi Kottakadavu TMH Hospital with chest pain have complained that the patient died due to the treatment of a fake doctor who worked there as the RMO. The deceased is Vinod Kumar (60), a resident of Pachattu House in Poocherikunnu in Kadalundi. He was treated by Abu Abraham Luke, RMO of the hospital. Vinod Kumar's relatives alleged that Abu Abraham had not passed MBBS. They alleged that Vinod Kumar died due to medical negligence.
Based on the complaint lodged by the family, a probe has been launched under the leadership of Farokh SHO Sreejith. Abu Abraham, a native of Thiruvalla in Pathanamthitta, is absconding, police said. Abu Abraham has been an RMO in the hospital for the past five years. Following the incident, he was removed from the post of RMO.
Vinod Kumar, who had suffered a heart attack earlier, was admitted to TMH Hospital at 4.30 am on the 23rd after he complained of chest pain. Abu Abraham, who had the duty doctor charge in the emergency department, suggested a blood test and ECG without providing first aid. Abu Abraham also asked his relatives to go out. Vinod Kumar died within half an hour.
Doctor son and wife who got suspicious
Vinod Kumar's son Ashwin P Vinod, is a PG doctor, and his wife Malavika, is also a doctor. An investigation by Ashwin and Malavika, who suspected Vinod Kumar's death, is what revealed that Abu Abraham had not cleared his MBBS final examination. Vinod Kumar's wife P Sooraja alleged that the negligence of the doctor and the hospital was the reason for Vinod Kumar's death and demanded strict action.
