Brutal murder in front of mother: Five-year-old boy decapitated by mentally unstable man

BHOPAL: A five-year-old boy was beheaded in front of his mother in Madhya Pradesh. The accused was beaten to death by the locals. The incident took place in Dhar. The boy, Vikas, was killed by 25-year-old Mahesh, who broke into his house. It is reported that Mahesh was mentally unstable. Mahesh, who arrived on a bike, entered the house and attacked the child with a sharp spade-like tool lying in the house. The child's neck was severed from his torso.

The mother was also injured while trying to save Vikas. Hearing the mother's screams, the neighbours rushed to the spot. The locals thrashed the accused before the police arrived. The police rushed Mahesh to the hospital, but he died on the way.

Describing the crime as "extremely heartbreaking", Dhar Superintendent of Police Mayank Awasthi said that preliminary investigations indicate that Mahesh was suffering from mental illness. "An investigation has been initiated. More details will be known only after the postmortem," the police said.

Mahesh is a resident of Jobat Bagdi in Alirajpur district. His family told the police that he had been missing for days. Police said that Mahesh had tried to steal goods from a nearby shop an hour before the murder. A case has been registered against him.
