56 schools in coastal areas to become centres of excellence through KIIFB funded project

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala government has launched a new project aimed at infrastructure development in 56 government schools in the coastal areas of the state. The Rs 64-crore project, funded by Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday.

The project was launched by the government in order to uplift the fisherfolk community in the state through education. It has also devised several schemes to promote education among the fisherfolks. Under the newly launched project, classrooms, libraries, laboratories, staffrooms and toilets will be constructed in these 56 schools in the coastal region. KIIFB has sanctioned Rs 65 crore in the first phase of the project
