International racket behind gold smuggling, customs inform court

KOCHI: Swapna Suresh, Sarith and Sandeep Nair were sent to the custody of the enforcement directorate for four more days in the gold smuggling case. The enforcement informed the court that the statement of the accused that they have contacts with bigwigs are being examined in detail. A detailed probe is needed on the hawala dealings behind the gold smuggling. More accused are yet to be found in the case. The investigating team told the enforcement court that the accused had performed dealings of Rs 100 crore in the past one year.

Meantime, the customs told the court that two more people in Dubai are to be arrested in the gold smuggling case. They also told the court that it is necessary in the case. Steps for it are continuing. An international racket is behind the gold smuggling. The customs told the court that a group of people are spending money for the smuggling. The verdict on the pleas have been postponed.
