THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: When Bafaki Tangal died, the eight-column headline given by Kerala Kaumudi was "Holy end to a pure life". According to League leader TA Ahmed Kabir, this was a testament to the secular culture of the Malayalees. Kabir made the remark while speaking in the Kerala Assembly on Monday.

"Recently, attempts are being made to destroy that culture. It was Sree Narayana Guru who referred to Prophet Nabi as 'Muthunabi'. The demand for justice for the backward and downtrodden was raised here when Dr Palpu was denied justice. It is painful that the Left Front is trying to end the unique co-operation that has existed in the state ever since that incident," he said.
