NEW DELHI: The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday asked the states with the highest number of COVID patients to remain vigilant. There is an increase in the number of patients in eight states. It also directed the states to strengthen the steps such as effective monitoring system, testing, tracking, patient isolation and quarantining those who came in contact with them in order to reduce the spread of the disease. 80.33 per cent of the new cases are in Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. These states account for 84.16 per cent of those who are undergoing treatment for the disease.
