Accused in ganja case holds Iftar feast in police station, report sought

police

POTHENCODE: An Iftar feast was held at the police station at a time when strict restrictions were imposed in the state as part of curbing the transmission of Covid. The incident happened at the Pothencode police station.

It has been alleged that an Iftar feast was held Sunday afternoon by a team led by police officials and some criminals. Reports said the party was organised by a person convicted in a drugs case and one released on bail in a counterfeit note case.

The feast at the police station is a serious lapse on the part of the police when people are sitting at home as part of the lockdown. When the incident courted controversy, top officials sought an explanation from the sub-inspector. Almost six cops of the station had contracted Covid two weeks back.
