Debt-ridden trader commits suicide in capital city

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Unable to cope with the financial problems triggered by Covid-19 crisis, a trader committed suicide in the capital city. He has been identified as Vijayakumar, a native of Thachottukavu in the capital city. In a suicide note left, he mentioned that he had a financial debt of Rs 15 lakh.

Vijayakumar was running a stationery shop at Praram Junction in Thachottukavu. He committed suicide at the sunshade of his house. His relatives said he suffered severe financial crisis following the closure of his shop due to Covid. He suffered heavy losses in his business and was not able to repay his loans taken to construct a house.
