THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram districts to rescue people from the damage caused by heavy rains. These districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall today and tomorrow. One more team of the NDRF will be deployed to the Alappuzha and Idukki districts in case of emergency. The NDRF teams will also be sent to Kollam and Kannur districts.
Two teams of the Indian army are deployed in Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram respectively.
The Defense Security Corps has been deployed in Kozhikode and Wayanad. Two Air Force choppers are stationed at Thiruvananthapuram and INS Garuda in Kochi. They can be deployed at any time in case of requirements. The Volunteer Force and Civil Defense are ready to deal with any emergencies.
The rivers did not overflow as the Idukki, Idamalayar and Pampa dams were opened in a controlled manner to avoid floods.
