Man stabbed to death by drunken son

MANNAR: A father was stabbed to death by his drunken son. Thankaraj (65), of Shyamalalayam in Ariyannur Colony, Peringalippuram, Budhanoor Grama Panchayat, died after his son stabbed him with a screwdriver. His son Sajeev (36) was arrested by the police.

Sajeev and Thankaraju had an altercation around 8 pm on Sunday. During the ensuing tussle, Sajeev used a screwdriver to stab his father in the chest. The father and the drunken son were arguing and the neighbours did not intervene. Thankaraj's wife Shyamala cried out loud and when the neighbours came, he was lying bleeding. After ward member Suresh informed, Mannar police rushed Thankaraj to a private hospital in Parumala and took Sajeev into custody. The body was shifted to Alappuzha Medical College Mortuary after confirmation of death at Parumala Hospital. Funeral was held yesterday evening after postmortem. The initial conclusion was that a deep stab wound to the chest was the cause of death. Thankaraj was a bicycle repair worker. Sajeev is doing mobile phone repair work at home. Thankaraj's daughter: Saritha. Son - in - law: Shelvan.
