Historic win for India at World Fencing Championship; Two women athletes in top 60 for first time

HONGKONG: Indian women fencers Taniksha Khatri and Prachi Lohan created history at the Senior World Fencing Championships. They became the first Indians to qualify for the main table of 64 (direct elimination round) in the women's epee category at the World Championships. This feat was achieved in a competition where over 180 athletes participated at the Asia Expo in Hong Kong.

Taniksha Khatri finished 43rd in the women's individual epee category. This is the highest individual ranking ever achieved by an Indian in this event at the Senior World Fencing Championships. Prachi Lohan finished in 58th place. With this, the country also created history by having two Indians in the top 60 in the women's individual category at the World Championships.
