KOCHI: Kerala Blasters FC has dismissed reports claiming that the club is set to shift to new ownership and that VPS Healthcare Group is planning to acquire the franchise. In an official clarification, the club said neither VPS Healthcare nor its founder, Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, is involved in any discussions or process related to the takeover of the club.
The clarification comes amid reports that Magnum Sports, the parent company of Kerala Blasters, had decided to sell its stake following continued financial losses and a sharp decline in broadcast advertising revenue.
The club reportedly suffered a loss of around Rs 30 crore during the last season. Although the owners are said to have sought around Rs 150 crore for the sale of the club, no buyer has so far come forward at that valuation.
With no major business groups showing interest in acquiring the club, football fans remain concerned about the future of Kerala Blasters. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and businessman Prasad Potluri were among the club's original owners.
