DUBAI: An Indian expatriate has reportedly won the UAE Lottery's bumper jackpot worth 30 million dirhams (around Rs 78 crore), making it the second-largest prize in the history of the UAE Lottery.
Speculation is growing that the winner could be a Malayali. The UAE Lottery's official website has identified the jackpot winner only as "Sunil Ku. S." Based on the name, many Malayali expatriates believe the winner could be Sunil Kumar. However, it is equally possible that the winner is from Tamil Nadu. The lottery authorities have not yet disclosed the winner's full identity or nationality. The winning ticket was drawn on Wednesday.
Last year, the UAE Lottery's 100 million dirham grand prize was won by Indian expatriate Anil Kumar Bolla. The latest result marks another major jackpot win for an Indian participant. Officials are expected to reveal the winner's full details and nationality in the coming days.
Meanwhile, no one claimed the second prize of 50 lakh dirhams this week, and the amount has been rolled over to the next draw. Two participants won the third prize of 100,000 dirhams each, while three others received 50,000 dirhams each through a special guaranteed prize draw.
