Nepal flash flood: 105 Indians among 384 missing; death toll rises to 16

KATHMANDU: The death toll in the flash flood in Nepal has risen to 16. A total of 384 people are missing, including 105 Indians. Among those missing are 32 police personnel and 25 pilgrims. Twelve people stranded in the affected areas have been rescued by helicopter.

The Indian Embassy in Nepal has released helpline numbers to assist Indian nationals affected by the disaster: +977 985 131 6807 and +977 970 910 7500.

The flash flood caused extensive damage in the region near the Chinese border. Villages, markets and irrigation projects were washed away by the floodwaters. Transport services in the region have been severely disrupted. Reports also said that six major hydropower facilities in the region were damaged.
