Iran attacks seawater desalination plant: Kuwait urges public to reduce power consumption

KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait has said that an Iranian attack damaged a power generation and seawater desalination plant, causing a major fire and disrupting several electricity generation units.

In a statement, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said the attack triggered a large fire at the facility. Several power generation units were rendered inoperative as a result of the damage.

The ministry said firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control. Technical teams and officials from various departments have inspected the site, assessed the damage, and taken steps to secure the facility. Authorities also said efforts are underway to restore the damaged power generation units as quickly as possible.

The ministry assured the public that continuous efforts are being made to prevent any disruption to the country's electricity and water supply. In view of the current situation, the ministry urged residents to reduce electricity consumption as much as possible. It added that further updates on the incident would be shared through official channels.
