LONDON: British Prime Minister and Labour Party leader Keir Starmer is reportedly preparing to resign. A decision could be announced on Monday or Tuesday amid intense political pressure. There has been intense pressure within the party and cabinet for Starmer to resign since the setback in the local elections in May. The pressure has doubled after Andy Burnham, Stamer's main rival within the party, won the parliamentary by-election in the Makerfield constituency last week. Burnham challenged Starmer in the party leadership election. More than 100 MPs have called for Starmer's resignation.
Earlier, Starmer said he would fight all challenges and not walk away from the role. However, the pressure was too much to handle, so the UK Prime Minister decided to hold talks with advisors regarding relinquishing his role.
