MUMBAI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that Modi knows nothing beyond fashion and foreign tours. Dipke also alleged that the Prime Minister travels around the world using money earned through the hard work of ordinary people. Dipke was addressing party workers at a protest organised by the CJP at Mumbai's Shivaji Park, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The CJP's protest was held despite Mumbai Police denying permission for the gathering at Shivaji Park.
Dipke said Mahatma Gandhi was the soul of the country and that India had remained stable because of Gandhi's ideology.
“Gandhi is the soul of India, Ambedkar is its backbone and Jawaharlal Nehru is its brain,” Dipke said.
After police denied permission, the CJP set up a temporary stage in front of Gate No. 6 of Shivaji Park and organised the protest. Actors Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi, singer Vishal Dadlani and Tushar Gandhi were among the prominent personalities who arrived to extend their support to the protest.
The CJP plans to hold protests in Mumbai, Goa, Kolkata and Bengaluru before taking the agitation to the national capital by the end of October. The party has been demanding Gyanesh Kumar's resignation and has also called for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to be stopped. Despite heavy security arrangements in Mumbai, police have so far not attempted to stop the protesters, according to the report.
