NEW DELHI: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued notices to several leading energy drink brands for allegedly misleading consumers through their advertisements. The action comes amid concerns over whether these products deliver the benefits claimed in their promotional campaigns.
According to reports, FSSAI has sent notices to six major beverage brands, stating that the products do not qualify as energy drinks and raising concerns about their possible side effects.
The brands that have received notices include Red Bull, PepsiCo's Adrenaline Rush, Reliance Consumer Products' Campa Energy Drink Gold Boost, Sting, Hell Energy, and Monster Energy, which is supported by The Coca-Cola Company.
According to the food safety authority, these brands have included claims in their branding and promotional campaigns that are not permitted under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. FSSAI alleges that such claims could mislead consumers, prompting regulatory action.
