BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Police have arrested a 36-year-old man from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly sending a hoax bomb threat to the headquarters of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The suspect, identified as Nishant Tyagi, was apprehended by the Sanjay Nagar police. Preliminary investigations revealed that Nishant is unemployed and mentally unstable, and the threat message was confirmed to be a hoax. The police have also seized an electronic device found in his possession.
The security scare unfolded after threat messages claiming a bomb had been planted at the ISRO headquarters were received on Thursday and Friday. Following the alerts, security agencies conducted extensive searches of the facility over two days, but no suspicious objects were recovered. Subsequently, the ISRO Administrator filed an official complaint with the police, leading to the registration of the case.
While Nishant was arrested in connection with the first threat message, the police are currently verifying whether he was also responsible for the second message. The accused has been brought to Bengaluru for further interrogation and evidence collection. Police officials stated that further legal proceedings and investigation into the matter are underway.
