LUCKNOW: A 32-year-old youth shot dead his father over a property dispute. The incident happened Wednesday night at Modinagar in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The dead is Hariom Chaudhary of Budana Village. The police have intensified search for his elder son Nikhil.
Hariom, a farmer lived with his wife Meenakshi (50) and their children Nikhil and Nishu. Meenakshi in the complaint said that there was a dispute between the two. Nikhil came home at around 11 pm last night when Hariom was resting on his bed after dinner.
'Nikhil came home drunk. Hariom asked him why he came home drunk. The argument turned into a property dispute and Nikhil in a fit of rage started firing at him. Hearing the gun shots, Meenakshi rushed there and saw Nikhil holding a gun. Nikhil fired three bullets in front of me and then my husband fell to the ground. In the meantime, Nikhil fled from the spot,' Meenakshi's complaint said.
Though Hariom was taken to the hospital with the help of neighbors and relatives, his life could not be saved. His relative said Hariom owns 75 bighas of land and owns three shops in Modinagar. Hariom has assets worth Rs 150 crore in total.
Hariom had divided the assets into three shares years ago. One share for Nikhil, one for Nishu and third share for Hariom and his wife. However, no legal documentation was done. Nikhil had constantly argued with his father, demanding that his share be documented, but Hariom said that he would not do so before his marriage.
The DCP said five police teams have been deployed to nab Nikhil. He possessed a country made pistol and he had shot and injured his younger brother following a dispute in 2018.
