MDMA case, two years with Jineesh after separating from husband: What led to Keerthana being attacked?

KOZHIKODE: Keerthana, the second accused in an MDMA case, remains in critical condition after she was stabbed multiple times at the Vadakara police station premises on Saturday morning. Her living-together partner, Jineesh (38) of Perambra, allegedly attacked her with a kitchen knife.

The incident occurred around 10.10 a.m. when Keerthana arrived at the police station as part of her bail condition requiring her to appear before the investigating officer and sign every Saturday. She sustained five stab wounds, including injuries to her neck.

Police officers ran out of the station after hearing Keerthana's cries and took Jineesh into custody. According to information available, Jineesh repeatedly asked whether Keerthana had died even after he was taken into custody.

Jineesh allegedly followed Keerthana after she signed at the station and was about to reach the main road, and stabbed her several times with the kitchen knife. The knife reportedly broke during the struggle.
Keerthana was taken to the Vadakara taluk hospital and later to the Medical College Hospital under the leadership of Vadakara Circle Inspector A.K. Sajeesh.

Keerthana, who had been living separately from her husband, had been staying with Jineesh, a bus driver, for around two years, according to the information available. After Keerthana was arrested in the MDMA case, Jineesh did not visit the house. He also did not visit her while she was in jail. The two had reportedly quarrelled over gold ornaments after Keerthana was granted bail earlier this month.

There is also information that a group had gone to Jineesh's residence, followed him and threatened him. He allegedly attacked Keerthana after being provoked by this incident, according to the information available. However, Jineesh told police that family problems were behind the attack.
