KOTTAYAM: Three people, including two minors, have been arrested for allegedly stealing cash and gold from a house to fund a pleasure trip. The incident was reported from Anakkal near Kanjirappally in Kottayam district.

The accused have been identified as Koduvanthanam native Ajith Anil (19) and two 17-year-old boys. According to police, the trio broke into a house in Anakkal on May 24 and stole Rs 75,000 in cash and three sovereigns of gold ornaments.

Investigators said the accused arrived at the house disguised in clothing resembling a burqa. As no one was at home at the time, they carried out the theft and later attempted to damage the property's CCTV camera. However, police were able to trace the suspects by examining footage from CCTV cameras installed in nearby areas. During the investigation, it was found that the accused had used the stolen money to go on a trip to tourist destinations, including Munnar. Police also revealed that Ajith had been involved in multiple theft cases even before attaining adulthood.
