One held in Thalassery for trying to murder elderly man while consuming liquor

KANNUR: There was an attempt to slit an elderly man’s throat following a dispute that broke out during a drinking session. The incident happened at Thalassery in Kannur. Nassar of Chembilode, has been admitted to the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital with serious injuries.

The incident happened at the new bus stand in Thalassery at around 1.30 pm today. Nassar and the accused Shahid were sitting together in a secluded part of the bus stand and drinking. A dispute broke out amidst this. Shahid then used the blade in his hand to deeply injure Nassar's neck.

The locals immediately informed the police. Nassar was later taken to the hospital. His injuries are serious. Shahid has been taken into police custody. Police officials said that more information can be known only after questioning him.
