Youth beats father to death for questioning drinking at home in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: In a tragic incident, a youth assaulted his father to death in an inebriated condition at Velliparamba in Kozhikode. The victim is 64-year-old Sasidharan of Makkinyat in Velliparamba. The police have arrested the accused identified as Abhiram.

Abhiram killed his father early Monday morning at 12.45 am. Abhiram got angry when his father questioned his consumption of liquor in the house and then in a fit of rage, he hit on his father’s head with a wooden plank. Sasidharan sustained serious injuries and was immediately taken to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, but his life could not be saved.

On being informed, the medical college police came and took him into custody. The police said Abhiram was a habitual troublemaker at home. Sasidharan’s body is presently kept in the mortuary of the medical college hospital. The body will be handed over to his relatives after post-mortem.
