THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala responded to the allegations regarding his visit to the USA. He clarified that his trip abroad was not at the expense of the government but was borne by the organisers. He explained this via a video shared on Facebook. The video was posted with the caption, ‘This is about the Chicago trip.’

‘My wife and I came here to attend the wedding of the son of Felix Simon, who was part of the early leadership team of JaiHind TV. I have known their family since the time I was an MP from Kottayam. It is a relationship of nearly three and a half decades. After coming here, I had to attend programmes organised by the Malayali associations and Onam celebrations. I also visited the house of Sam Pitroda, who is popular among the Indians. Jose K Mani and others were also with me.

I will return tomorrow. This American trip is not at government’s expense; it is borne by the organisers,’ said Chennithala.
