Calm and well-behaved: People find it hard to believe Anila killed two friends in US

KOTTAYAM: Kerala is in shock over the incident in which two Malayali women were killed by their female friend in USA. The dead have been identified as Annie Jacob (35), wife of Jacob (Mithun) of Pallathara House in Kurichy, Kottayam and of Thiruvananthapuram, and Anjana Vijeesh (35), daughter of Haridas and Sushama of Pananchery Thekkoot House in Mudikkode, Pattikkad, Thrissur. The police have taken their friend Anila of Kottayam, into custody in the incident. The murders were committed at Milpitas in California.

Anila's neighbours have now stepped forward reacting to the incident. The people in the Thazhachavayal area of Erattupetta say that the daughter of Baby Doctor and Jolly Chechi would never do such a thing. No one is able to believe the incident. Anila and her family have an excellent reputation among the local residents and relatives. Anila is known to be a very calm and soft-spoken person.

She was known for her good behaviour with relatives and neighbours. Anila's family is well-known in the area. The family is financially sound. Anila studied at ARS College in Bharananganam. She moved to the United States four years ago. An engineering graduate, she had been working in a private company there.

The news of the murders reached her hometown at around 12 noon last Friday. Reports say that Anila has confessed to the crime. Depression following the loss of her job in the United States may have led her to take the extreme step. The actual cause will become clear only after further questioning of the woman.
