NEW DELHI: The official name of ‘God’s Own Country’ has been changed from Kerala to Keralam, with the law giving effect to the change coming into force as an Onam gift to Malayalees.
Although President Droupadi Murmu gave her assent to the legislation passed by Parliament during the Monsoon Session on August 14, the Centre issued the notification on Tuesday.
All records related to the Central and state governments will be changed from Kerala to Keralam before August 25, 2027.
The Bill was introduced in Parliament following a resolution passed by the Kerala Legislative Assembly in June 2024 and on the recommendation of the President.
