KOCHI: The questioning of Veena T, daughter of former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the monthly pay-off case has been completed. The questioning lasted for nine hours at the ED office in Kochi. This is the second time Veena has been questioned in connection with the monthly pay-off case involving the alleged financial transactions between CMRL and Exalogic. Sources said that she may be called again for further questioning. However, the date has not been decided yet.
Veena appeared at the ED office in Kochi at around 9.30 am on Thursday. The questioning began at around 10.30 am, after an hour. Although there are indications that she may be summoned again, the investigation team has not taken a final decision on the date. So far, the ED has questioned seven people, including Veena, in connection with the case.
As part of the investigation against Veena, the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) had handed over 134 documents from its chargesheet to the ED. The move followed an application filed by the ED before the court handling company law cases in Kochi.
Although CMRL opposed the move in court, the court rejected the objections and ordered the transfer of the documents. On June 17, the ED had questioned Veena for around eight hours at its Kochi office. However, the questioning could not be completed due to time constraints, following which she was summoned again.
