Alappuzha rescue operation case: ADGP MR Ajith Kumar suspended

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ADGP MR Ajith Kumar was suspended from service for his involvement in the Alappuzha rescue operation case. DGP Ravada Chandrashekhar handed over the report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) regarding the case to the Home Department for further action. The action was taken following this. The Chief Minister accepted the recommendation given by the Home Minister. The order will be issued soon. MR Ajith Kumar is currently the MD of Bevco.

Action will also be taken against the officials who edited the report in favour of Ajith Kumar. The action has been taken at a time when Ajith Kumar is scheduled to be promoted as DGP on the 31st of this month. There was strong criticism from many quarters, including from within the UDF, against the delay in action against Ajith Kumar.

The special investigation team found that Ajith Kumar intervened to sabotage the case related to the manhandling of KSU and Youth Congress leaders by Pinarayi Vijayan's security team during the Nava Kerala event.
