Cinema journey that began in 1950s; veteran actress and dubbing artist Muthukulam Jagadamma passes away at 92

KOTTAYAM: Veteran actress and dubbing artist Muthukulam Jagadamma, 92, has passed away. A member of the Kannampally family, she was the wife of the late Vasudevan Nair of Puthenpuraykkal.

Jagadamma entered the world of cinema at the age of 15 with Nalla Thanka. She went on to become one of the early women dubbing artists in Malayalam cinema, while also appearing in films including Jeevitha Nouka, Visappinte Vili and Velakkaran.

One of her notable contributions came in Jeevitha Nouka, in which she lent her voice to B. S. Saroja, who played the female lead. Jagadamma also acted in the film.

She is survived by her children Sarala Nair, Vijayalakshmi, Sureshan Nair and Giridhar Nair, and the late Rajasekharan Nair, Muralidharan Nair and Gopinathan Nair.

Her daughters- and sons-in-law are Sreeja Nair, Suresh, Lalitha Bhai, Lalitha and the late G. P. Nair.

The funeral rites have been performed.
