School van driver's heroics before death; Kozhikode native Anil Kumar bids emotional adieu

KOZHIKODE: A school van driver in Kuttiady left the world after earning the name of a hero for his timely intervention that saved the lives of many children. Anil Kumar (50), a native of the place and the school bus driver, felt unwell while on the wheels. However, he made sure to park the vehicle safely on the road before alerting the locals. Though he was rushed to the hospital, Anil Kumar’s life could not be saved.

The school van was heading towards Velom. When the vehicle reached Vazhayilmooku, Anil felt uneasy and started losing control of the vehicle. However, he managed to park the vehicle safely and alerted locals. Anil then called the school authorities on his phone.

The school authorities immediately arrived with an ambulance and took him to the hospital, but his life could not be saved. Another driver arrived and took the children home. Anilkumar was a driver with the school for a long time. He is the son of the late Kumaran and Janu.
