PALAKKAD: A case was registered against a school headmaster under the POCSO Act on the complaint of molesting a seventh-grade student. The incident took place when a student of the Palakkad Government UP School came to buy new textbooks last month. According to the complaint, the headmaster took the student to a room and molested her. The student told police about facing a similar assault earlier in fifth grade. The case was registered by the Palakkad South Police on the complaint of the parents. The police said that further action will be taken after receiving the report of the Child Welfare Committee.
Meanwhile, a complaint was filed at Ayalur Government UP School over a teacher slapping a seventh-grader for engaging in a quarrel with other students. Siddharth, a seventh-grader who was injured in the incident, sought treatment at the Nemmara Community Health Centre. On June 29, a fight broke out between students in the afternoon. Following this, Siddharth was called to the staff room and slapped on the face by the teacher. The child sustained injuries below his left eye in the fight. The Nemmara police recorded the statements of the student and the teacher.
