MUMBAI: A former Mrs Kerala contestant and model from Thrissur has been arrested at Mumbai International Airport for allegedly carrying hydroponic cannabis worth crores of rupees. The accused has been identified as Harsha Sunny (28). Customs officials seized more than 11 kg of high-quality hydroponic marijuana valued at around Rs 11.82 crore from her possession.
Harsha arrived at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai on the night of June 10-11 on an Air India flight (TG-351) from Bangkok. During routine checks, officials from the Air Intelligence Unit and Customs Department became suspicious of her behaviour and stopped her for further inspection.
A detailed search of her trolley bag led to the discovery of 12 vacuum-sealed plastic packets containing a green-coloured substance. A chemical test conducted at the spot using an NDPS testing kit confirmed that the substance was high-potency hydroponic marijuana.
Customs officials have registered a case against Harsha Sunny under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and arrested her on charges of drug smuggling. Harsha was a participant in the 2025 Mrs Kerala beauty contest. After being produced before a Mumbai Fort court, she was sent to judicial custody. Customs and the Narcotics Department have launched a detailed investigation to find out who the drug consignment was intended for and whether it was meant to be delivered in Mumbai or other parts of the country.
