LEH: Three people, including a Major General, were injured in an Army Cheetah helicopter crash in Leh, Ladakh, on Wednesday. The helicopter crashed while taking off in the Tangste region. Details of the accident were released today. An official told the media that it was a miracle that all three passengers in the single-engine chopper escaped with minor injuries. The court has ordered an inquiry into the cause of the accident.

Meanwhile, the selfie clicked by Major General Sachin Mehta after the crash has now gone viral on social media.

The cheetah helicopter was inducted into the Army during 1971 and was pivotal in operations across the Himalayas, also functioning as an air ambulance. In the coming years, the helicopters will be replaced.
