CHENNAI: Actor, director and social activist Raghava Lawrence has reacted to the news of contesting the by-election in the Tiruchirappalli East constituency as Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam candidate. He did not deny the rumors related to his candidacy and clarified that an important decision will be taken on June 11 with the blessings of his mother. His response was on his X handle.

‘Many media persons have contacted me to know the truth of the matter. I am presently busy with the film 'Benz' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The shooting of the film will be completed on July 10. The next day, i.e. on June 11at 9.30 am, I will announce an important decision with the blessings of my mother Kanmani,’ clarified Raghava Lawrence.

Trichy East is one of the two seats that TVK president Vijay contested and won in the recent Tamil Nadu assembly elections. The by-election is going to be held here after Vijay decided to vacate Tiruchirappalli while retaining the Perambur seat. Initially, there were rumors that actress Trisha might contest from this seat. However, for the past week, Raghava Lawrence' name has been heard as the candidate. Raghava Lawrence himself came with a response against the backdrop of strong campaigning on social media.
