Good Friday observed today in remembrance of Christ’s suffering; devotees in prayers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Christians around the world are observing Good Friday today, commemorating the suffering and crucifixion of Christ. Special prayers and services were held in churches in the morning.

Under the leadership of various Christian organizations, the Way of the Cross was conducted in many churches. This ritual commemorates the journey of Jesus carrying the cross from Pilate’s palace to Golgotha. In the evening, churches will hold services including remembrance of the Passion, proclamation of the Word of God, veneration of the cross, and processions carrying representations of Christ’s suffering.

On Easter day, the Resurrection Sunday services will begin in the morning. Easter will be celebrated by the faithful on Sunday.
