Iranimuttom garbage pile, a calling for disaster

THIRUVANANATHAPURAM: The garbage piled on the road adjacent to the Iranimuttom homeo college ground region is calling for danger. The corporation that is vocal about waste disposal methods is also accused of putting waste here. The residents of the flat nearby and the localities are busy putting garbage during the dark of the night. The Nedumangad ward councilor raised this topic in corporation but never received any favorable response from the authorities. The waste is currently disposed of in one private land near where the corporation rented space for disposal.

For more than two years, the wastes are being piled here unhindered. After the Attukal pongala, wastes from the event were also dumped here which caught fire the very next day. The timely response from corporation workers and people nearby helped douse the fire. The current mount of waste also calls for danger and a disaster is imminent if not taken any precautionary steps.
