PATHANAMTHITTA: The RTO stopped the Robin bus which resumed service after a month. The bus was stopped at Muvattupuzha Anicadu. After checking the bus, it was allowed to leave. This is the second time the authorities of the bus are stopping the vehicle.
The bus, which was seized by the motor vehicle department and released following permit violation, resumed service today. The bus is operating service on the Pathanamthitta-Coimbatore route. The bus, which left Pathanamthitta at 5 in the morning, was stopped by the Motor Vehicle Department for checking when it reached Mylapra two kilometers later. After checking was completed, they allowed to resume service.
The Robin bus was seized on December 24th morning. The Pathanamthitta Judicial Magistrate Court had ordered the release of the bus after paying the fine for violation of the law. The owner Girish approached the police but did not release the bus. The bus was released yesterday following court order.
The motor vehicle department informed that the bus can be operated only as per the current law, otherwise they will face action. The Department of Motor Vehicles can inspect the vehicle if required. The order also said that the police should provide security to those checking.
The motor vehicle department impounded the bus after pointing out that it was continuously violating the permit in violation of the high court order. Heavy fines were also imposed for violations. Bus operator Girish said that he paid a fine of Rs 82,000.
