VITHURA: The police said that there was a mystery in the incident where a woman was killed by her boyfriend as they could not live together. Sunila, a married mother of one child and a resident of Vithura, was murdered by her boyfriend Achu on Monday night.

Sunila and Achu, who were neighbours, were in love for six months. The accused said that they decided to die together as they were unable to live together. However, the police are yet to believe this completely. Achu told the police although they initially decided to die by hanging, Sunila later changed her mind saying that death by hanging would be painful. According to Achu, Sunila then asked him to strangle her to death and then commit suicide. He said that after strangling Sunila to death using a string, he tried to kill himself. However, he failed to do so.

Achu is arguing that it was Sunila who insisted that they should die together. Although Achu admitted to having committed the murder, the police suspect that he did it to get rid of Sunila. The police also found that Achu, who slept with the dead body after the murder, went to work in Thiruvananthapuram the next morning. The police are wondering why a man, who decided to commit suicide, showed up for work that morning.

Achu was arrested following an investigation conducted on the complaint filed by Sunila's husband. The accused, who went into hiding in the forest in the Panayamuttam area after committing the murder, was found after hours of searching. Upon questioning him in detail, the police found that Achu had killed Sunila. Following this, Achu was taken to the Palode station.

After conducting a post-mortem at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, Sunila's body was cremated on the premises of her house in Palode. The suspect, who was brought to Vituhra station, is being interrogated under the leadership of Nedumangad DySP.
