74th Death Anniversary of Dr Palpu; A great man who fought against malpractices: Minister Anil

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister GR Anil said that Dr Padmanabhan Palpu is one of the great souls who played a crucial role in transforming our land from superstitions and malpractices to what it is today. He was inaugurating the 74th commemoration conference organized by the Palpu Foundation.

'Now an attempt is being made to take our country back centuries. The power of religion is being used for religious hatred. Fighting against it is the greatest respect we can show to Dr Palpu," the Minister said. Shailaja Ravi, director of Kerala Kaumudi who presided over the function said that Dr P Palpu is a great man who showed us the great spirit of philanthropy. She added that Dr Palpu is the most respected person who fought for the betterment of Kerala society after Sree Narayanaguru. Palpu was one of the best disciples of Sree Narayana Guru. Shailaja Ravi also said that Palpu has a history of risking his life to treat patients when smallpox was rampant.

Gokulam Medical College MD Dr Manojan inaugurated the medical camp. T Saratchandra Prasad delivered the keynote address. Dr P Chandramohan, Foundation President Adv K Sambasivan, Councilor CS Sujadevi and D Anilkumar delivered a memorial lecture. Foundation General Secretary Ambalathara Chandrababu gave the welcome speech and Vice President Adv K Sugathan gave the vote of thanks.
