NEW DELHI: While Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal remains in Tihar Jail in the liquor policy case, discussions are active in the Aam Aadmi Party to address the governance crisis. Yesterday, 55 MLAs visited Sunita Kejriwal at her residence. It is indicated that there was a discussion with Sunita, who was allowed to meet Kejriwal in jail, including administrative issues.

The MLAs reiterated that Kejriwal should not resign, citing the support of two crore people of Delhi. They also expressed that Kejriwal should continue to lead the government from jail. Highlighting the administrative crisis, the BJP has submitted a letter to Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena. Saxena has also stated that a constitutional crisis will not be allowed. Rumors are also circulating that Sunita will become the Chief Minister if she is convinced that there is a need for a decisive move. The visit of MLAs has thus become a topic of discussion in political circles.

Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court will hear Kejriwal's plea against the arrest today. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma is presiding over the case. The court has warned that the case will not be adjourned. Apart from the arrest, the petition also challenges the trial court proceedings in which the ED was remanded in custody.

BJP asserts that there is a tug-of-war within the Aam Aadmi Party, with a lack of trust among its members. BJP Delhi president Virendra Sachdeva accused Sunita of attempting to seize power after Kejriwal realized that there was no immediate possibility of release from jail.

Former Supreme Court judge Ajay Rastogi has called for Kejriwal's resignation, emphasizing the importance of moral responsibility. He argues that the office of Chief Minister is a public trust and it is inappropriate to continue in office when the incumbent is in judicial custody. He cited examples of former Chief Ministers Jayalalithaa of Tamil Nadu, Lalu Prasad Yadav of Bihar, and Hemant Soren of Jharkhand, who resigned under similar circumstances.
