THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Electricity Regulatory Commission confirmed having no intention to change the method of solar net metering. The Commission informed this in response to the news published by Kerala Kaumudi on May 12.
Increase the renewable purchase obligation target of KSEB to 50% by 2030. Increase the total capacity of solar plants installed under the distribution transformer from 75% to 90%. Create criteria for determining solar generation capacity. The regulatory commission in an explanatory note highlighted the four reforms under consideration for the evidence-taking process scheduled on the 15th. The inclusion of new definitions introduced in the central government regulations, and not changing the net meter billing system, are the two other prominent decisions of the commission.
The reforms look to increase renewable energy generation. The Commission also boasted about including reforms in the draft regulations, to surpass the central government’s proposed target of 43.3% renewable energy by 2030. Billing practices for solar consumers are as per Clause 21 of the present rules. The note also stated that no change has been proposed in this.
