THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sports Minister V Abdurahiman with more responses on the arrival of the Argentine team to Kerala. The minister said it would take Rs 100 crore to bring the Argentine team to Kerala. He added that the rest of the action will be taken after a representative of the Argentine football team arrives in Kerala in the first week of November and inspects the ground.
"There is only one place in Kerala where they can play. That is Kochi. Malappuram was thought of in the beginning. But there are fewer seats there. When such a game is going on, more people will come to watch. Kochi is the only place where such a thing can be done," the minister said.
He also said that the Argentine Football Federation has expressed its willingness to start an academy in Kerala. "The discussions with the Argentine Football Federation were held as part of strengthening the sports economy in Kerala. It is estimated to cost more than Rs 100 crore. Earlier, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) had moved out of the game in Delhi because it would cost so much. There is an expectation that it can be tried in a state like Kerala," the minister said.
