SIVAGIRI: The biggest crisis the country is facing is the use of differences among the people as an opportunity for political gain, said Mahatma Gandhi's grandson Tushar Gandhi. "We must recognize this danger. Instead of uniting them and eliminating differences, the selfish are trying to gain benefits in other ways. Sree Narayana Guru and Mahatma Gandhi taught us to unite all sections of the people," he pointed out. Tushar Gandhi was inaugurating the celebrations organized by the Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust to mark the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi's visit to Sree Narayana Guru at Sivagiri.

"After visiting Sree Narayana Guru in Shivagiri, Bapuji gained a special energy. This energy helped him in his freedom struggle activities. Gandhiji was a karma yogi and Sree Narayana Guru was a dharma yogi. There was no contradiction between them, but rather a complementarity. We always talk about religion in an external sense. We pay attention to religious symbols and rituals. The essence of religions is spirituality. This can be achieved through service. Sree Narayana Guru and Gandhiji also gave importance to service. During the freedom struggle, garbage was scattered on the road to block Gandhiji's journey to the place where the riots took place. Gandhiji continued his journey by getting a broom and removing the garbage from there. We can purify ourselves through spirituality. Life becomes meaningful only when garbage is removed from all areas. Morality and spirituality are realized by serving the downtrodden. I will also be a part of the efforts being made by the Sivagiri Mutt to carry this message forward," he said.

Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust President Swami Sachidananda presided over the function. Former KPCC President V.M. Sudheeran was the chief guest. Trust General Secretary Swami Shubhangananda delivered the benediction speech. Chandy Oommen MLA, Sivagiri Mutt Advisory Committee Member K.G. Baburaj and others were present. Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust Treasurer Swami Saradananda gave the welcome speech and Guru Dharma Pracharana Sabha Secretary Swami Asangananda Giri proposed the vote of thanks.
