Ezhava representation in politics decreasing: Vellappally Natesan

KOLLAM: SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan raised concern over the diminishing representation of Ezhavas in Kerala politics and administration. He was presiding over a memorial meeting organised by the SN Trust Medical Mission at the premises of Shankars Hospital, Kollam, on the occasion of R. Shankar's 53rd death anniversary.

“We should examine the MPs and MLAs from Kerala. Our community had good representation during R Shankar’s time. All others who succeeded him helped their own communities but not ours. Some label me as a communalist when I tell this truth. Shouldn't the Ezhava community also get political, social and educational justice? How does questioning this make me communal? Some people criticise me without even examining the right and wrong of what I say. The ghosts of those who haunted R. Shankar are haunting me, too.

The Ezhava community is being left behind in the field of higher education. People who visit colleges will understand which community has advanced in the field of education with the new rules and regulations in place. The number of Ezhavas in the IAS, IPS, MBBS and engineering fields is decreasing. Considering the public interest, they should unite. Some divisive forces are trying very hard to break the community,' Said Vellappally.
