ALUVA: On Friday afternoon at approximately 2:15 PM, a KSRTC driver and conductor were brutally assaulted by a two-member gang of bikers at Kuttamassery, near Aluva. The victims have been identified as the driver, 50-year-old M. Shyamkumar of Kayamkulam, and the conductor, 44-year-old Praveen of Sasthamcotta, Kollam. Both men were rushed to the Kalamassery Medical College Hospital, with Shyamkumar sustaining severe injuries to his eye and neck after being repeatedly struck with a helmet.

The violence reportedly stemmed from a road rage incident in which the bikers claimed the bus, travelling from Aluva to Kottarakkara, obstructed them while they were attempting to overtake a car. The assailants chased the bus, eventually blocking its path with their motorcycle. After forcibly removing the bus keys, the attackers dragged Shyamkumar from his seat and carried out the assault. Praveen was also injured while attempting to defend his colleague.

Following the incident, the bus service was suspended, and the twenty passengers on board were transferred to other vehicles. The Aluva police have registered a formal case and are currently conducting a search to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
